TXT records are used to hold arbitrary text. These text strings could be used to annotate a domain with notes, but more commonly are used as carriers for the Sender Policy Framework (SPF) records. These records are used to help identify legitimate email senders for a domain.

To configure an SPF record on the Ecessa device it is recommended to use an SPF record generator, or preferably create your own by following the SPF record syntax.

Note: Starting with version 9.1, the Ecessa device will provide a SPF check box next to the TXT record. This is a specific type of record that was supposed to be implemented as an industry standard but was discontinued and never used. For SPF records, do not check this box. It will be removed in our later firmware versions.
