Allowing the Ecessa device to be accessible from the Internet is a useful way to remotely manage it. However, anytime a port is opened up to listen for incoming connections on a public line, that device is also subjected to a minimal amount of risk. One way to mitigate this risk is to set the services that will be accessible to listen on non-standard ports. Some services are more secure than others. We recommend limiting services that are publicly available to “Secure Web” (SSL) and “Secure Shell” (SSH). The following is a list of our recommended, non-standard service ports and settings
